Newcomers and visitors to Three Lakes Gun Club regularly comment on the ‘family’ atmosphere that prevails here. The club attracts shooters of all ages and both sexes for our 50 bird fortnightly clay shoots, which are normally held over 8 stands and comprising 16 different target angles.

Targets are set for mixed abilities in line with CPSA recommendations, with around 1/3 for novice shooters, 1/3 for intermediate and 1/3 for the more advanced ‘A’ class shooters.

Club members record their scores from our fortnightly shoots and are classified according to their overall ability, age or sex.

Current classes are AA (the best shooters), A, B and C (Novice shooters), Ladies, Veterans (Over 60), Juniors (Under 22) and Colts (Under 17).

At the end of the year awards are made for the overall winner and the top three scorers in each of potentially eight classes.

Visitors are welcome to shoot for pleasure but will not be eligible for the end of year awards.

Three Lakes Gun Club has an active membership of over 80 shooters. We shoot every fortnight on a Sunday morning between 10am and approximately 12 noon.

Last entries are at 11.15am.

The club operates on a working dairy farm, by kind permission of the landowners and therefore only felt or fibre wad cartridges can be used here. Plastic wads are forbidden due to their adverse effects on cattle if ingested. We therefore ask all members and visitors to strictly comply with and actively assist us to enforce this ruling.

Membership is £25 a year for which members receive a £3 discount per round of 50 clays.

Currently, the rates are £12 a round for members and £15 a round for non members.

Please see our events calendar for full details.

In addition to the fortnightly Sunday club shoots we also host two Charity events each year raising several thousand pounds for worthwhile causes.  Previous beneficiaries have included Marie Curie, British Diabetes, Cancer Research, and The Army Benevolent Fund.

Three Lakes Gun Club holds a Section 11(6) permission under the Firearms Act which enables non licence holders to shoot under the guidance and supervision of a qualified person.

If you advise us in advance of your visit, it enables us to set some additional, gentle targets, appropriate for beginners and to have a coach available to assist where necessary.
